My macros+

Having an organized, efficient way of tracking your daily macronutrient intake is of paramount importance.  I personally use and recommend the MyMacros+ tracking app.  It's a one-time expense and you aren't inundated with ads to upgrade.  You're able to dial in the macronutrient goals by the gram and percentage and you have much more reign in regards to personal customizations.


I need a place to store all the data I'm gathering. For that, I turn to Heads Up Health. This is a platform that syncs with all of your tracking devices AND syncs with your medical records. You can also create manual entries. I use this to track my weight, my ketones, my measurements, my blood work, EVERYTHING!

Being able to test our blood ketones while manipulating our macronutrient intake is a great way to gauge how various ratios and foods impact your circulating blood ketones.  Personally, I use and recommend the Keto Coach meter.  It's consistent, accurate, and incredibly cost-effective!

Interested in diving deeper than simply tracking blood ketones?  If so, I recommend the Biosense Ketone Breathalyzer.  This measures the acetone in your lungs.  This is a great way to measure the ketones you are actually burning and using through your daily activity. cgm

Testing ketone levels is great but knowing how your blood sugar fluctuates throughout the day is incredibly insightful as well.  Being able to see how certain foods impact your glycemic response is useful data.  Also, having the ability to measure this continuously throughout the day is much more relevant than testing your levels at a single point in time as is done with a standard glucometer.  I personally use the Nutrisense brand because it can be purchased online and doesn't require a doctor's visit and prescription.

When it comes to minimizing "keto-flu", getting a great pump in the gym, and optimizing performance, proper electrolyte equilibrium is at the top of the priority list.  Ensuring that your body has the right ratio of sodium, potassium, and magnesium is absolutely paramount.  Having the proper equilibrium will allow your muscles to contract and your brain to fire much more optimally than if that ratio is out of balance.  Combine that with the fact that we tend to flush out a lot of our fluids and electrolytes when adopting a ketogenic diet and it becomes apparent that we need to supplement electrolytes to truly dial in our ketogenic lifestyle.  A proper 2:1 ratio of sodium to potassium is key.  Many supplemental electrolyte formulas miss this ratio entirely.  Redmond Re-Lyte hits it right on the mark!  Use the code "SAVAGE" to save yourself 15% on the Re-Lyte powder!


No bathroom scale is the epitome of accurate body composition scans.  That's O.K.  The main benefit of being able to jump on a scale on a regular basis to give you a pulse on how your body is responding to various dietary and activity manipulations.  The nice thing about this particular Withings Scale is that it syncs with your phone so data entry happens automatically and you can easily see the trendlines over time.
