The Work Podcast Episode 51 - Let’s Talk Labs

This episode was a solid reminder that progress comes from understanding your body, not fearing it. We walked through blood work, hormones, and lipid panels, and the big takeaway is simple: track trends, don't obsess over single numbers. After years of consistent ketogenic living, my markers—insulin, inflammation, overall stability—have stayed steady. That flies in the face of a lot of the narratives out there, but the data over time is what matters, not the noise.

We also dug into the realities of pushing your body—whether through contest prep or extended fasting. Hormones will downregulate in a deficit, that's just part of the game. But being fat-adapted changes the experience entirely. You're not dragging yourself through the day - you're still performing, still thinking clearly, still getting work done. And fasting, more than anything, exposes your habits. It shows you how much of your eating is actually hunger versus routine, boredom, or emotion.

The bigger picture here is mindset. Right now, the world is chasing shortcuts -quick fixes, drugs, anything that avoids doing the work. But none of that replaces discipline. If the habits aren't in place, the results won't last. The people who actually succeed are the ones willing to do what's hard, consistently, over time. That's the difference—and that's who we're speaking to.
